On Memorial Day Weekend, I went to a traditional camping trip with some of the best friends anyone could find. I haven't missed this excursion to the hills west of Chewelah for a handful of years. Though last year I was only able to spend the day there, I went from Friday to Monday this year.
I had the most fun I've had since the day I broke. It was a challenge to maneuver through the rough and uneven terrain, but whenever I got stuck someone was always quick to help me get to wherever I need to be. Many pounds of cow, pork, chicken and oysters were consumed along with much more beer than should have been. Blakemore is the Dutch Oven King! Yum!
We all got a little crazy with responsibility. Just how I like it...Controlled Chaos. Each day we went to find a few dead trees to serve as heat, light and excitement. The wood was stacked eight to ten feet tall with a roaring blaze of twelve to fifteen feet. We even played foosball in a teepee among other things.
I'm sure many of you are wondering how I managed to crap out there. Well, since my last doctor appointment I was informed that I could try doing my bowel program every other day and that some paraplegics only do it once or twice a week. So, on Friday before we left, I did my thing and Tuesday afternoon, after I slept for 20 hours, I emptied myself out. It took an hour and a half, ...butt it worked... He He.
I have a huge tent and an elevated cot air bed that sits level with my wheelchair. Joe was a huge help in loading my gear, setting it up and packing it back together. Everything worked out better than I had hoped. Thanks Joe and everyone else that was so hospitable to me.

Hi Jake!
It is so wonderful to read about the fun you had over Memorial Day weekend.
You have so many gifts. One of which, is your gift of putting your thoughts into words. I can feel your joy, your struggles, frustration, hope, passion and love.
You are finding new friends because you are a great guy and are enjoyable to be around. Those are also a part of your many gifts. Keep reaching for the greatness that is already in you.
