In recent months, I've met numerous new people. It still amazes to me to find people in the world that will look past my disability and see me as the man I am behind my chair. I have made so many new friends that offer their support and share their lives with me. It makes my journey much easier having all this new support. Thanks friends and family!

I think you know my thoughts on this one already. You are you, chair or no. If your chair is not the focus of how you percieve yourself, it will not be the focus of how others percieve you either.

Jake,
As you become more "used" to the chair life, I think you'll find most folks judge the person rather than "the chair" Para's and quads are very common now and supported by many companies and organizations. We're BIG business dolar wise. Since the ADA act accessibility has greatly improved. While still not perfect it's still getting better! I'm a Vet and getParaplegia News, a monthly magazine, I think you'd learn a lot from it
SCI, You have found a great place to get some straight answers. You can ask Jake anything or just vent and he will listen. I am a T-7 complete and trying to get through my first year. Jake has helped me become more independant-You Rock Jake!
